The P-51 was a heavily modified racer with clipped wings and modified canopy.  He was in Reno and seems to have managed to avoid a greater number of people than the now confirmed nine people.

On December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy, the United States was attacked by forces of the Empire of Japan.  This action resulted in the sinking or disabling of much of the United States Navy's major fleet units.  This action also caused the United States to be catapulted into World War II.  This is a significant event.

NOOOOO!!!!</title><summary type='text'>Unfortunately, the Shuttle will NOT be coming to Washington State.  The decision was made and the four shuttles will go, one each, to the Udvar-Hay part of the Smithsonian, The Intrepid Air and Space Museum in New York, Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and, the most disappointing to me, the California Science Center in Los Angeles.  Actually, two of those are disappointing.

In the early morning of July 16, 1945 (About half after 5AM), the experimental implosion device was tested near Alamogordo, New Mexico.  It created a HUGE explosion.  You can read more about it here and here.

A World War II Navy aircraft was discovered by loggers on private land near Tillamook, Oregon on March 18, 2010.  The aircraft was a Curtis SB2C Helldiver.  Officials are still looking into it.  The There were a few lightning strikes.  Eastern Washington being a desert, these resulted in fires.  I took a drive and took some pictures while investigating the smoke.  Apparently fires started in 5 locales, all about 25-30 miles east of us. It is a Radiosonde.  It is a balloon borne weather instrumet.  The balloon began its flight in Salem Oregon and ended up in the Lower Yakim Valley.  That is a distance of about 160 miles. Whilst there, we attended the decommissioning ceremony of the Kitty Hawk. I also took a few pictures of ships tht were also there. There is no where ner as many ships there as there were 10 years ago, but the ones that are there are bigger.Four super carriers and an *EDIT* Oliver Hazard Perry class ship. She was set for decommissioning. Dolled up in colorful ribbons and bows. Her best jewelery shining.She awaited a throng of people. All come to bid her fairwell.
